Welcome to the first instalment of 'the publisher diaries' a series in which I take you through each part of the publishing process and share my thoughts and feelings. This first instalment of 'editing stages' was the part I was most excited for, but ended up being the most daunting, read on to find out more!

It's settling into the colder January season, the microwaveable slippers I got for Christmas have been donned, the fluffy Oodie is ceremoniously placed and now that the submissions for seasons have closed that leaves the next job to be done- editing. The most exciting, yet, most daunting task that I have taken on. As I am working on my debut anthology, so in turn, my debut appearance as an editor, I feel like the pressure is mounted on. I'm constantly aware that this, THIS anthology, will be my first public work as an editor and a publisher.
But, when the work I have received is simply a joy to read, the process is made that bit easier. Working on edits is enjoyable, but sometimes I wonder if I over or under edit (it's not very good for my overthinking!) However, with all this doom and gloom said I just keep picturing the final product and the end in sight for my debut anthology and it makes it all worth it!
Of course nothing is completely finished, with second, third and final edits to go, not to mention, I still have to format the anthology, write my introduction and figure out what bits go where - but it all just seems like a whirlwind of work.
One of the things that has been keeping me sane through editing has been travelling around different cafe's in my local area, trying to get the best study spot in all of York. So far cafe 42 and Vinyl cafe have taken the cake.
I am so looking forward to getting everyone's work out in the open as all of my writers are simply wonderful talented people, and they deserve the best anthology possible.
see you soon!
